Ford Hybrid Investments To Vehicle Optimizations - Keys To Success

By Brian Kessler

We often hear one common quote "The constant thing in this world is change" not only from our elders, but also from marketers who want to sell an enhanced product. This saying is absolutely true and applicable when it comes to gadgets and automobiles in our market today. Who should use cellphones with antennas in our present time? Who is willing to ride in an old type of car without any windshield or side mirrors? Who is not in favor with innovations that benefit each consumer? Of course, everybody will agree about vehicle improvements like the proposed plan of the Ford Company.

Ford, which noted its part in United States electrified vehicle industry, was up to almost 16, pointed to its Hybrid C-MAX for helping drive the plan. "Strong consumer acceptance of Ford Hybrids shows that our plan to lead in fuel economy across our lineup is working," said Raj Nair, group vice-president of the international product growth. The plan was publicized during a telecast hosted by the Ford Company in July. During the program, Ford said that electric automobile sales had achieved 46, 197 units through June, including the new buyers of C-MAX new buyers in Florida, Texas and coastal markets.

On the other side of the story, the automaker added that Toyota Prius in United States has lowered five percent on the same period. Toyota sales down to 4.5 percent were also noted, but the company still held the title in Canada with retailed Prius Cs through the end of June while C-Max could gather just 757. According to Ford, almost 64 percent of C-MAX buyers came from various non-Ford types in June. This fact was actually the driving force of Lincoln to increase the production mix of Hybrid MKZ to 40 percent of MKZ, up from 20 percent.

Innovations and calibration updates have been started since August in the United States and Canada. Models such as the 2013 Ford C-MAX, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid received an enhanced inside and outside vehicle improvements made possible by the Ford automakers and owners. To make it into success, electric car engineering team by nearly 50 percent increase and $50 million dollar investments in high-class facilities for the expansions have been proposed.

Calibration updates to Ford models include enhancement of the control systems for driving conditions on the highway, during short journeys and while using the control features. According to the automobile maker, the lists of improvements were the following: increased maximum electric speed to 85 mph from 62 mph, reduced electric fan speed as a function of coolant temperature to decrease the consumption of energy, optimized use of Active Grille Shutters to reduce aerodynamic drag under cold and hot weather, shortened engine warm-up time by up to 50 percent to allow driving and engine shut down a stops sooner after cold starts and improved climate control system to minimize the use of air-conditioning compressor and lessen the energy used in cold weather operation.
