One of the greatest and most famous martial arts of all time would be karate Hartford CT which gained a huge number of students over the decade and has gained a lot of media popularity. Even though it is extremely big today, this art actually started out in a little island where the natives practiced it. Over time, this art gone through so many alterations and evolutions to become what it is today.
Now according to the timeline of Japanese history, this art was first founded in a small island outside Japan named Okinawa. Now this art was first known as Te and was actually used as a form of self defense just in case there were attackers from a foreign land that will come in. Of course there were also friendly foreign travelers who were from China or Korea that shared some parts of their art to the Okinawans.
Because Okinawa was rich in many natural resources, Japan took notice of it and eventually conquered it. When the Japanese government took over, every single Okinawan was not allowed to have possession of any kind of weapon. Due to this new law, the natives made sure that their art was invincible and they also did weapons training with normal household tools.
Now this fighting art was actually only practiced in this little island until one master known as Gichin Funakoshi officially made it into an art and spread it among Asia. He was known to have fused the styles of two great masters and made his own style which became known as Shotokan Karate. After he established his art, he went around Japan in order to see what was beyond the borders.
When he arrived Japan, the sports organization of the country heard about this man and asked him to demonstrate his skills in a convention. Because of this demonstration, the founder of Judo, Kano Jigoro took interest on Funakoshi and invited him over to a Judo dojo in order to showcase Karate and some moves. It was at this point that many students gathered around in order to learn the Shotokan way.
After the sudden burst of fame, Funakoshi decided to open up his own permanent dojo in Japan. He retired as a teacher and he passed down all of his techniques to the next generation grandmaster which was his son Yoshitaka. Since Sensei Funakoshi was no longer able to move, he decided to retire and just write about the ancient art.
Eventually, the art spread to other foreign countries like Europe and the United States of America because of World War II. Because of the war, the Allied forces were able to conquer a part of Japan and also learned the fighting arts of the Japanese. The foreign practitioners eventually brought the art back to their respective countries.
Of course the fame of Karate Hartford CT spread even further and further until it became an international fad. Many movies of this ancient art came out which further boosted the popularity.
