Vacation At Watch Hill Beach RI

Anyone looking for the perfect getaway should think about Watch Hill Beach RI. This wonderful area has so much to offer visitors of all ages. From young families looking for a beach vacation to energetic teenagers who need lots of activities, this is a paradise. There are miles of sandy beaches, warm ocean waters, plus hikes and cycling trails galore.

The beach area is at the end of a natural peninsular that is almost surrounded by crashing surf. The landscape has been populated for many centuries. The local Niantic Indians called the place home well before the Europeans arrived and put their stamp on the area. Because of the strategic importance of the look out this dramatic spot has been well populated and defended for years.

People today are drawn to the area because of the diversity of things to do. Families love the miles of pristine sand and wonderful waters. The kids can easily spend a day playing in the water and building sand castles. Parents and grandparents can relax and enjoy themselves knowing the little ones are having the time of their lives. For those looking for a little more action there is plenty to keep them busy.

The ocean waters offer excellent swimming, although safety should always be a concern. Only strong swimmers should venture out beyond the shallows. The area really is a sailors delight with marine craft of all kinds readily available. Many people want to take a boat trip during their stay. There are fun daytime outings to watch for whales and other marine life. Romantic young couples can also enjoy an evening sail to watch the moon come up over the water.

The area is also a sailors paradise. There are many local marinas that offer charter sails for everyone. Those with children along may want to go out whale watching. More experienced sailors will love to get out on the water for a day under sail. There are evening cruises under the stars, complete with champagne and chocolates for the most romantic of couples. Kayaks are also available to rent for full or half day outings to explore the many coves and bays along the coast line.

Golfers will really enjoy a trip to the Watch Hill area. There are plenty of local courses that offer a challenging round of golf in spectacular scenery. Many people have reported that the courses are among the best they have ever played, with something for all skill levels.

Shopping is a big part of any vacation and Watch Hill has plenty to offer. There are some wonderful local stores selling unique crafts made by local artisans. Everywhere the ocean theme is represented in everything from artwork to ornaments.

During the months of July and August the Watch Hill Beach RI area plays host to many special events. There are concerts, art festivals, lobster suppers and much more. Visitors should check in with the local tourist information office to find out what is going on whilst they are staying.
