Hosting a Memorable Harvest Moon Party

By Ji Hitzeman

There is always a reason to hold a party in each season but it seems that most of these fun times are done during the winter and summer only. The fact is that you can surely hold a party in autumn too; one which you can bond with friends and family and have a great time together.

When it comes to decor, think about an old fashioned hayride and the colors of fall. Place hay bales on your patio and cover them with blankets and invite guests to enjoy a cocktail and appetizers outside. String up fall leaf garland around the patio and intertwine the garland with clear LED lights. These are not only safe; they add a beautiful glow to your party space. Don't forget to use some gourds and pumpkins as decorations, as well.

Inside, place a stunning fall floral arrangement on your dining table. Your local online florist will have a complete selection of amazing autumn bouquets. You might select a big basket filled with sunflowers, gold chrysanthemums, brown copper beech, red roses and Asiatic lilies.

You should have no trouble finding a local online florist and they will certainly offer a variety of flower arrangements that would be of interest to you. Since your dining table would be the most interesting spot during this affair, it would be natural for you to decorate it well. You can have the bouquets you ordered delivered to you on the day of the party itself. It is by doing this that you could be sure that the said flowers are fresh and would really make the party area even more beautiful.

When guests arrive, offer them a mug of hot apple cider, pumpkin beer or perhaps a cocktail such as an appletini. For the appetizers, offer items such as spicy mixed nuts, baked brie topped with cranberries or a maple-walnut glaze. You can also find recipes for cheese dips that feature squash and pumpkin.

If you only have a few guests, consider serving a full sit-down style of dinner with a hearty first-course soup, an entre such as roasted loin of pork and a caramel apple pie for dessert. But if you are going to have a buffet, consider filling the table with hearty stews, soups or chili's warming in crock pots. Include plenty of rolls, breads and a few different salads as well as some seasonal desserts.
