Starving For Great Cooking Tips? Read On!

If you are having trouble lately in the kitchen when it comes to getting your cuisine just right, you are not alone. Most fresh vegetables should be purchased as close to serving time as possible, so that you eat them at their peak and get the most nutritional value and flavor. There are a few fresh vegetables, like carrots, onions and potatoes that will last at least a month if refrigerated or in a dark, dry area.

If you want to cut the corn off of the cob the best thing to do is do it one ear at a time and hold it at an angle in a pan. Use a sharp knife and cut it as close to the cob as you can use the milky juices over top of the corn for extra flavor.

If you want to spice up your meal, add peppers. Peppers will not only give the meal that you are making flavor, but will increase the spice intensity to appeal to your taste buds. Try different types and variations of peppers so that you can hone in on the peppers that you prefer.

When you are planning to cook a big meal try prepping all of your foods the day before. This will help you save time and it will also be less mess to clean up after the big dinner. Chop all vegetables and cut up all your meat and store appropriately.

Experiment with different breadings for everything from chicken to vegetables to appetizers. To add an extra dimension of flavor to breaded foods, try using coatings other than the usual breadcrumbs or panko. Get creative! Cereals like corn flakes, toasted o's, and crispy rice work well too. Don't forget to try crushed crackers and cookies as well.

Make sure you are storing your spices in the right place. Many people store their spices right above their stove or near a light source. To stay fresh, put them in dry and dark spot that is cool. Humidity can also destroy spices so keep those several factors in mind.

To keep your knife from dragging and making a mess of ice cream cake or cheesecake, run it under hot water (or dip it into a nearby bowl) and wipe it with a tea towel. The hot water heats the blade, enabling the knife to glide through the cake, which results in nice, even slices.

Make sure not to use oil in the water you are using to make pasta. This will only keep sauce from sticking to pasta when mixed together. In order to give the water a little flavor and prevent the pasta from sticking the pot, you can add in a little bit of salt.

To get perfectly cooked salmon that is not too dry, remove it from the heat when the fish is opaque and it flakes whenever you press gently with the back of a fork or spoon. Salmon dries out quickly and is easy to overcook; and because it stays pink, color is not an accurate indication of whether or not it is done.

Use nonstick cookware when you want to cook healthier. Nonstick pans have a coating on them that makes food easily slide out, even with no oil. This is great for when you are trying to control the fat in your diet. If you do use oil, you will have to use far less. What's more, nonstick pans are so easy to clean!

At some point during the day, try to get a small amount of caffeine into your body. Caffeine will help to relax tension and has also been known to aid asthma. Make sure that you do not consume too much caffeine though, as this can have a negative influence on your breathing.
