Crate FlexWave FW15R Guitar Amp Combo

By Bruce Stanway

The Crate FlexWave FW15R Guitar Amp Combo is an excellent example of a high quality practice amp. Crate has been known to add new twists to classic hardware and they keep doing so with this amp. Although little in stature, the Crate FlexWave does that. With so many changes and differentiations in such a tiny package, it effectively transforms itself from a practice amp to a small performance amp.

The details:

- Power: 15 watts
- 12" speaker
- Overdrive and Clean
- Headphone jack
- CD or MP3 player audio input jack
- Weighs 27 lbs.
- Inbuilt three-band EQ
- Evolution 5 preamp, which allows for sharp and clear audio output quality
- Channel tracking feature, which remembers your settings and preferences between channels

Why this amplifier is the right amp for you

- You need a practice amp that may essentially be utilized in smaller gigs "either in smaller performances, an audition or gigs in tight spaces.
- You need a practice amp that allows you to have different distortion settings between channels and can basically remember your preferences when switching.
- You want a practice amp that goes with the sort of music that you like "rock and R&B would go well with this bass-heavy practice amp.
- You find yourself shuffling back and forth between audition halls, your room (for more practicing), unplanned performances or maybe tiny, company gigs. Then this practice amp would be your all-in-one best friend to take around with you wherever you go.
- You want a crossover practice amp that won't let you down during a collection of comprehensive auditions and performances.
- You want a practice amp that can be used as your mp3 or CD player and can even permit you to jam noiselessly with the headphone jack.

Consider another sort of amplifier if

You are not hot for the heavy-bass sound since this amplifier tends to add more base to its audio output.

You need an even smaller practice amp that may literally slot in your messenger or body bag.

You just need a basic, simple amplifier that you can easily bring with you wherever you go (and you need it to be a bit cheaper, too).

You want a lighter practice amp since you'll be strolling round the majority of the time and do not have the benefit of having a car trunk to put away most of your things in.
