What To Do To Prevent Wrinkles Around Eyes?

By Nancy T. Dobbins

Wrinkles around eyes appear normally in old age. They are also known as crow's feet. The attitude of people towards this is different. Some like the happy, smiley look that these lines give to the face. Others go to great lengths to cover, fill and get rid of them. The first thing you should do with wrinkles is finding the reason behind them. Then do whatever you can to prevent additional or deeper wrinkles from forming.

It is found that the main cause of eye wrinkles is laughing, smiling and squinting. Matters can become worse due to general aging, damage due to sun's rays and drying of the skin. With proper skin care these problems can be solved.

Normal creams which are good for the rest of the face would not be so for the skin around the eye, since the skin around the eye is extremely soft. Hence you have to go for a good eye cream that contains a high SPF sun protection. Apart from this you should become selective in using other skin care products. The cleanser and toner may cause skin to dry around causing wrinkles around eyes.

Smiling or laughing cannot be avoided. But at least you should be aware of the movements your face makes while doing so. With conscious efforts you can reduce the crinkling effect it has on your eyes. Apart from this the ultra violet rays of the sun can be blocked by wearing sunglasses, especially while driving. Thus you can avoid squinting to a large extent.

Removal of wrinkles around eyes mainly depends on your budget and the time you are willing to spend. Those who do not want to go for expensive, long term treatment can opt for relatively inexpensive, short term cures. Such people can rely up on a good quality wrinkle cream that has Retin-A. This way wrinkles can be reduced considerably.

Those who are willing to spend more money and time to get rid of the wrinkles around eyes can go for a series of laser treatments which stimulate collagen production. This will give the skin a healthier, softer look. Short term cure also include administering Botox injection, which inhibit the movement of muscles. This is effective, but will last for only four to five months. Then another injection will have to be given.
