Exploring Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza - Hotels and History

The Balearic Islands have a wealth of historical attractions nestled amongst beautiful countryside and stunning beaches. Whether you want to compliment your sightseeing with a vibrant night out or relax on a secluded sandy beach, the Balearics are sure to satisfy.

Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza hotels and attractions cater for all tastes and a holiday here is sure to send you home with a smile on your face. Take a look at these three Balearic Island castles that should be on everyones list of places to see.

The Santa Gueda Castle is an important site of Islamic Menorca's heritage and served as refuge for the inhabitants of the Ferreries municipality and is sure to be a fantastic day out. Known as the Almudaina, the castle served as military headquarters for the Moslem 'Wali' and offers panoramic views of the island from the top of the tower. Bellver Castle has a robust and imposing exterior that surrounds two-tier arches and has been around since the 14th century. This fortress in Palma was once a defensive fortress and royal residence and is notable for its unique round shape. Despite its beauty, Bellver has a bloody history and was once a place that tortured and executed many people. Legend has it that the site is now haunted. If you're looking for great views of the island from one of the Majorca hotels, then the Catalonia Majorica is a great place to stay, as it looks out over Palma Bay.
