Considered a Green Quilt for Your Next Project?

By Jane Green

When it comes to quilting, there are colors we adore to use and then there are colours we seldom, if ever, use. I used to do that all the time, whenever I'd start a new project and in my head, I'd go through blues, whites, reds and pinks each time without exception.

These were always my favorite colours to work with. What I didn't consider was whether my projects would look great in colors other than this. It was just recently that I've stared to feel like I was getting stuck in a rut.

After sitting down and considering what I could do to get out of it, I realized that I never truly considered using other colours. Well, I was going to change that!

Right after that, I resolved to start a new colour I hadn't used before. After some thought, I decided that my next quilt would be a green quilt.

I tell you what, that was one of the finest decisions I had made in a while. While I made quilts in other colours, there were so many different quilts that worked better as green quilts.

It was also so easy to come up with new quilt ideas based around that color. I began with just easy green patterns and then progressed on to quilts that had plant motifs and even made a clover themed quilt as a tongue in cheek joke present for an irish friend of mine. We had a good laugh and it remains one of her favourite quilts today.

I should know, it was covering her bed the last time I went over there.

While there are several other things you can do with this color, a green quilt won't just stand out from other quilts, its bound to be a favourite amongst your collection. So give it a go today!
